Kyle McDavid (Social Media)

Kyle McDavid is a producer, director, writer/composer, educator, and graphic designer. He is the communications manager for Shallaway Youth Choir and graphic designer for the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra. As Founder and Co-Artistic Director of Best Kind Productions, he has produced 40+ events over the past 15 years, wearing many hats both on and off stage in mainstage musicals (Heathers, Fun Home, Next to Normal, [title of show], Avenue Q, Urinetown, Be More Chill, Second Shot: The Curling Musical, and more), outdoor kids musicals (including The Lightning Thief, Frozen, James and the Giant Peach, The Pirates of Penzance, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and more) at the Bowring Park Amphitheatre, cabarets, readings, and workshops. As a musical theatre writer/composer, he has created original musicals including Impresario, based on the life of St. John’s-born Broadway legend, John Murray Anderson, which was produced through the Resource Centre for the Arts in 2017, children’s musicals How Do You Get to Jellybean Row?, Sidewalk Dandelion (commissioned for Shallaway Youth Choir’s neurodiverse ensemble, Lauda), Lightkeepers (commissioned for Shallaway Youth Choir), and has created scripts for the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra’s family pops concerts and 2022 Labrador Tour. He has led ArtsSmarts projects, creating original school musicals with K-7 students at St. Matthews School and Beachy Cove Elementary and composes music for Ladies Who Lunch Productions (Three Tales of Terror, SpookyChristmasTown), Untellable Movement Theatre (Eli & The Death Curse). Kyle won Best Original Music for “The Dress” (Paris Women Cinefest) in 2025, and is a multi-time nominee for MusicNL Educator and Graphic Designer awards.
