TaDa! Events NL

TaDa! Events is a proud supporter of:

Throughout the years TaDa! Events has sponsored many causes in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. As we provide events and entertainment for our provincial communities, it’s imperative that we give back to communities as a little goes a long way. This is especially true when we focus our strengths on working with non-profit organizations who depend on such avenues of funding to operate from year-to-year. Contributions to such worthy causes and efforts help the public in a wide variety of areas and sectors from mental health support to supporting our nations military families.

Below you will find a list of some of the causes we’re proud to support through TaDa! Events with each production and event we put off. Please feel free to view any of the following services by clicking on the title.

Autism Society of Newfoundland and Labrador:

RIAC:

RIAC serves the larger Newfoundland community by helping create an environment that welcomes immigrants. With the combination of decreasing birthrates and an aging population, newcomers are a crucial source of labour and expertise necessary for prosperity. Immigrants make significant contributions to our society through their entrepreneurial spirit. The new businesses they establish and the innovative ideas they share are important drivers of economic growth, while their contributions in food, music and art lend cultural vitality.

Home from the Sea (Elliston Sealers Memorial):

The Home from The Sea Foundation (HFTSF) was originally formed to build a memorial to the men and boys who lost their lives in the Great Sealing Disaster of 1914. In doing so, the Foundation came to realize just how many stories involving our maritime history remain untold.

Now that the Sealers Memorial has been completed to great acclaim, the Foundation is focusing on doing its part to not only promote this remarkable attraction but to aid in harnessing intangible cultural heritage and authentic experiences on which Elliston can build a stronger future and strengthen the sense of identity of future generations.

On June 20, 2014, the grand unveil of Home from The Sea was celebrated with some 700 visitors coming from far and wide. What got us to that day was the work of the visionary citizens of Elliston under the leadership of Myrtle Stagg, a capital campaign team inspired by the vision and leadership of The Honourable John C. Crosbie, Chris Collingwood and Leo Power and a campaign executed by Pilot Communications.

Holy Heart Restoration Fund:

In 2005 the Holy Heart Auditorium Restoration Project was initiated when a devoted team of volunteers committed to restoring the auditorium to its former glory. This initiative began with the immensely successful run of Sheilagh Guy-Murphy Productions’ Steel Magnolias. Five, hugely talented graduates of Holy Heart, who each volunteered countless hours of rehearsal and performance time, put on a memorable show. The money raised from this production enabled the Restoration Committee to purchase a new sound system and new stage lighting for the auditorium, as well as restore the Steinway grand piano. The Provincial Government and the District School Board were also incredibly supportive of the Restoration Project. Much of their contribution is hidden in the very walls of the auditorium in the form of structural and electrical upgrades. Since 2006 the newly named Holy Heart Theatre has continued to be a source of cultural interest in the community and improvements are ongoing as finances allow.

The Holy Heart Theatre is an impressive structure with a proud history. Continued support will allow it to take its place in the cultural community of St. John’s in the 21st century.

Agnes Pratt Home:

Since opening in 1958, The Agnes Pratt Home has had an affiliation with the United Church of Canada and is guided in its operation by the values of the United Church. The Home recognizes the importance of a holistic approach based on the belief that people have a variety of needs: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.

A resident’s spiritual needs are related to his/her personal beliefs and faith commitment. These are expressed by, but not limited to, forms of prayer, worship, sacraments, observance of holy days, dietary regulations, and preparations for death and funeral rites.

In addition to these needs, all our residents, their families and staff need spiritual comfort, consolation, encouragement and support, particularly at times of personal crisis. The Agnes Pratt Home, through its Pastoral Care Program, aims to meet these needs.

Conception Bay Museum Colston’s Cove Stairs:

On the grounds, you’ll find two Historic Sites and Monuments Board plaques commemorating Rev. Laurence Coughlan, ideological founder of Methodism in Newfoundland, and Harbour Grace’s history of transatlantic aviation. These plaques were refurbished in 2017 and 2018, respectively. Another plaque, courtesy of the Newfoundland Medical Association, commemorates the life of Sir Thomas Roddick, of Harbour Grace. In the summer months, the flags of prominent Harbour Grace merchant firms and the solid black pirate flag of Peter Easton are flown next to the building. (The skull-and-crossbones flag was added by later pirates.) Also, on the front of the Museum, a plaque details the history of Easton in Conception Bay, one remembering the Museum as a National Exhibition Centre in 1974, and one designating the Customs House a municipal heritage site for the Town of Harbour Grace.

In summer 2019, we restored the steps leading to Colston’s Cove, the historic site where John Guy and his crew landed salt in October 1612. The steps and beach are accessible to visitors in the spring, summer and fall months.
