About The Vagina Monologues:

In 1996, Eve Ensler created The Vagina Monologues based on her interviews with more than 200 women of various ages, cultures and backgrounds whose stories range from happy, to sad, to angry, to confused, to tragic, to hilarious. Each soliloquy tells a different woman’s experience with topics like sex, love, tenderness, embarrassment, cruelty, pain and pleasure. It is about the empowerment of women with vaginas and women without them and honoring the right of everyone to talk about their reality. The Vagina Monologues has been called one of the great political plays of our time and a must see for anyone who is a woman or knows a woman. TaDa! Events’ production of The Vagina Monologues stars an age and gender inclusive cast: Sheilagh Guy Murphy, Tessa Crosbie, Sabrina Roberts, Gita Klaus and Vero Drake, and is directed by Terri Andrews.

Up Close and Personal with The Vagina Monologues Sabrina Roberts:

Q. What role do you play in the Vagina Monologues, Sabrina?

“The nice thing about the VMs is that you never really perform as a specific character. These monologues are from the perspective of many different types of women and it’s up to the actor to bring them to life by bringing their own life experience into it.”

Q. Sabrina, what makes the Vagina Monologues an important show?

“Unfortunately, still in 2021, misogyny exists. And many women are still struggling to find their voice. They sometimes have a hard time expressing themselves and even standing up for themselves. These monologues give us a voice.”

Q. How does this Vagina Monologues show differ from others?

“I feel we have a beautiful mixture of performers (brilliantly selected by Terri) who bring to the table/to the stage a motley collection of experience, perspective, age and sexual diversity.”

Q. Can you tell us a bit about the important role of the inclusion of transgender women in TaDa! Event’s version of The Vagina Monologues?

“I guess you would have to ask Vero. It certainly will open eyes about the transgender culture..”

Q. What do you feel are the most important takeaways or key aspects from the show?

“I hope that audience members will connect with at least one of the monologues. Maybe they will realize that they are not alone or they will feel more comfortable to talk about their bodies and sexual experiences.”

Q. How does it feel to be back on stage since Covid-19?

“OMG! I can not wait. I have a feeling it won’t really hit me until the audience is there and the lights go up, and then I’ll get all nervous!”
