Alex Abbott

Alex made his debut with TaDa at the age of 8 as the voice of the music box in Cabaret; now nearly 20 years later he is thrilled to be taking on his first lead role in a TaDa show as Jean-Michel. Alex is music theatre performer, multi-instrumentalist, and vocal coach born and raised in St. John’s. He studied Voice at Memorial University and Music Theatre Performance at Sheridan College, and has worked professionally across Canada. Past performance credits include include Swing/Dance Captain – No Change In The Weather (Terra Bruce), Madonna – We Will Rock You (TaDa!), Bamatabois – Les Miserables (Atlantic Light), Bert Healey – Annie (PMP), Lt. Meyers – No Man’s Land (Rising Tide) and Ensemble/Lion US – The Wizard of Oz (LOT). He has also been Music Director for productions of Into The Woods, The Nobleman’s Wedding, and The Naming of Port Rexton (Canadian Premiere).  When he isn’t on stage Alex spends his time arranging and composing music for other artists; his most recent project was the orchestration of the score for the original Newfoundland musical No Change in The Weather. Other career highlights include singing at Carnegie Hall with QVE and performing with the NSO for Hayden’s Seven Last Words of Christ. Alex would like to thank Terri, Evan, Pam, and the entire TaDa family for allowing him to be a part of the incredible cast of La Cage!
