Emily Finch

Emily is a trumpet player and music educator from St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. She completed her Bachelor of Music with Honours in Trumpet from Memorial University’s School of Music. Emily also holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Memorial University.  In addition to her academic pursuits Emily remains an active community musician where she is a member of the Jazz East Big Band and Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra. In 2018 Emily co-founded the contemporary music group, Nova Collective, an ensemble that is dedicated to the performance of contemporary music in purposeful spaces. Along with her formal membership in these ensembles, Emily remains engaged in the music community collaborating with other musicians and actively gigging. Emily maintains a private trumpet studio of her own in St. John’s while also teaching music and trumpet at Project Grace and with Memorial University’s Chamber Music for Youth Program.
